Life happens — and we get it. At BBT Fitness, we know that sometimes our members need to hit pause. Whether it’s for travel, school, family, or finances, our goal is to support you through every season of your fitness journey — not penalize you for it.
That’s why we’ve built a clear and flexible membership suspension policy that balances both member support and program sustainability. Here’s what you need to know.
Why We Offer One Complimentary Month of Suspension
We offer one complimentary freeze month every 12 months because we understand that life isn’t always predictable. Things like unexpected travel, work schedule changes, or even a short financial adjustment can make it hard to stay consistent in the gym — and we don’t believe those moments should cost you extra.
That first month is our way of saying:
“We get it. Take the time you need — your progress and your place here will still be waiting.”
This complimentary month ensures that members can pause without stress, maintain their standing with BBT, and come back ready to pick up right where they left off.
Why There’s a $50 Hold Fee for Additional Months
After the first month, if you need more time, we charge a $50 hold fee per additional month. Here’s why: when you’re on hold, your membership spot, program access, and backend account are still active. That means we continue to reserve your spot in your training program, maintain your data in our systems, and keep your membership ready for reactivation — all without canceling your account.
In short:
You’re not paying full membership rates.
You’re keeping your space and your progress secure.
You avoid having to restart a new 4-month commitment when you return.
That small monthly fee keeps your membership in good standing, protects your pricing, and saves your spot in the program.
Types of Freezes We Honor
We know every situation is different — so we review freezes on a case-by-case basis. Here are the most common reasons members request a pause and how we handle them:
1. Travel or Extended Breaks
If you’re traveling for 3 weeks or longer, your first month is complimentary, and you can request additional time with the standard hold fee. Just provide your return date so we can schedule the resume date properly.
2. Financial Hardship
Life changes fast — and we’re here to support you through it. If you’re going through financial difficulty, reach out directly to our team. We’ll review your situation and determine if an additional financial suspension can be granted.
3. School or Work Schedule Changes
Heading back to school or entering a busy season at work? We can freeze your membership short-term until your schedule stabilizes. These freezes often last one to two months and follow the same complimentary-plus-hold-fee structure.
4. Health, Injury, or Medical Reasons
If you’re dealing with a temporary injury or medical condition, we’ll support your recovery process with a freeze and coordinate your re-entry when you’re cleared to train again. In these cases, documentation may be requested for longer holds.
5. Suspension Non-Starts
Sometimes, members who’ve recently signed up experience life changes before they can even begin. In these situations, we treat the freeze as a non-start suspension, holding your spot until you’re ready to officially start your program.
Short-Term vs. Extended Suspensions
Every freeze is different — so we categorize them by duration and adjust accordingly:
Short-Term Suspensions (1–2 months): Complimentary first month + $50 per month after.
Extended Suspensions (3+ months): Must be approved by management and may require a program reactivation plan before return.
Emergency Holds: Case-by-case review for medical, family, or unexpected hardship situations.
Cancellation vs. Suspension — What’s the Difference?
If you choose to cancel your membership instead of freezing, that’s completely fine — but it’s important to understand the difference:
Option | What Happens |
Freeze | Your membership is temporarily paused, you keep your pricing and spot, and when you return, you continue on your month-to-month plan. |
Cancel | Your membership ends completely, and when you return, you’ll start a new 4-month commitment at the current pricing. |
So, for most members, freezing is the smarter choice if you plan to return within a few months.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I request a membership freeze? A: Simply fill out our Membership Suspension Form at least 15 days before your next billing date and include your return date.

Q: Can I freeze multiple times in a year? A: Only one complimentary month per 12-month period. Additional freezes require approval and may include a $50 monthly hold fee.

Final Thoughts
Freezing your membership is a simple, flexible way to take care of yourself without losing progress. Whether it’s school, travel, family, or finances, we’re here to support you — but we also have to protect the structure that keeps our coaching system running for every member.
The complimentary first month and the optional $50 hold fee are designed to strike that balance: keeping things fair, sustainable, and member-first.
